There are two most important training that every dog should know regardless of the breed. These are the house breaking training. They should be properly potty trained and crate trained. More information about it in this article.

Bichon Frise possesses quiet and timid temperaments, and is a nonaggressive breed of dog. Likewise, during training, they do not respond well to aggressive, forceful training, and will require consistency and patience before adapting and learning from the training. Due to this reason, potty training a Bichon Frise can be difficult at times, and cause quite a headache. Potty training a Bichon Frise will require extensive training and consistency. Do not falter if the training does not appear to take in any effect.

Successful potty training includes appropriate timing, using effective commands, the tone and encouragement given, and being consistent. Although Bichon Frise training on potty can be difficult at times due to their stubbornness, these barriers can be easily surpassed by implementing effective strategies.

Potty training a Bichon Frise successfully also relies on appropriate timing. To ensure that no accidents have already occurred, owners will find themselves waking up before 6 to potty train their Bichon Frise. Before 6, the Bichon Frise does not need to go to the washroom. By taking them out early for their potty training, owners are establishing the expected rules in the household; this being potty has to be done outdoors rather than indoors. It also helps establish a routine for the Bichon Frise making potty training much easier. Sacrifices have to be made for a successful training session. In this case, the sacrifice may be a couple of weeks to a couple of months depending on the overall attitude and behaviour of the Bichon Frise during potty training.

Like mentioned before, Bichon Frises do not respond well to aggressive or forceful training. Instead, use one word commands, like "pee", to avoid any confusion. One definite word will train the pooch when they should be doing their business, and that this business is best done outside. Owners will also have to keep in mind the tone of their voice when potty training a Bichon Frise. Keep a low and stern voice when using the command words, but remember to praise the Bichon Frise once they have completed the task. Praises and treats will become a positive reinforcement for their actions encouraging them to take their business outside. Treats are a great reminder of a job well-done. Although treats should be given sparingly, do not hesitate to reward the Bichon Frise whenever they have done a great job at following orders. Not only is it positive reinforcement, it helps establish the owner’s role as alpha male due to the fact that the owners are in control with the treats.

Consistency is a must, and owners need to be able to spot the signs of urination before it occurs. Due to their stubborn behaviour, consistency is crucial to successful potty training. By allowing the Bichon Frise to urinate indoors once, the whole potty training process may be jeopardized. Do not allow this to occur, and take the time to ensure that the Bichon Frise goes outside for their potty breaks whenever necessary.

Once housebroken and potty trained, Bichon Frises will stick to their routine making the lives of owners much simpler and easier; however, the process of getting there is rather difficult and can become an immense headache. Ensure to take proper steps and measures when potty training a Bichon Frise.
